Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Georgia Criminal History. Opening a page, reading its content, or using a search tool means that you accept the full terms below. If you disagree with any condition, do not continue to use the website.

NO FCRA USE. Georgia Criminal History is privately owned and has no government affiliation. The site and its advertising partners do not provide services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). This is a Georgia records reference, not a private investigator or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

Georgia Criminal History is a private reference website with no connection to a government office. It does not store official records, retrieve records, perform official checks, or file documents for visitors.

The content directs readers to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Georgia Crime Information Center, the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Georgia Sex Offender Registry, state courts, and local custodians across all 159 counties. Some pages also display third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the website, you agree not to:

  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools against the pages
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or data
  • Violate federal, Georgia, or local law
  • Use information to stalk, threaten, or harass another person
  • Rely on site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information found here or through a linked tool to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate. The Georgia Sex Offender Registry warns that its information is provided for community safety and must not be used to injure, harass, or commit a crime against a registrant or anyone at a reported address. Georgia and federal laws may impose civil or criminal consequences for misconduct. Registry information never authorizes vigilantism or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Georgia Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create credit reports, consumer reports, or official background checks. Neither the site nor its advertising partners offer a service intended to evaluate applicants, renters, insurance eligibility, or creditworthiness. You must not use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Set insurance rates or judge creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally compliant check for a regulated purpose must come through an authorized Georgia channel or a qualified FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. Only a licensed Georgia attorney can advise how a charge, conviction, warrant, record restriction, or sealing rule applies to a particular set of facts.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is." No promise or warranty is made that:

  • A partner's search results will be complete or correct
  • The website will remain uninterrupted
  • Every page will be free of bugs, errors, or security weaknesses
  • Information will always be accurate, complete, and current

Georgia records can change when charges are filed, amended, dismissed, restricted, sealed, or corrected. Gaps and delays are possible. Nothing published here is an official statement from GCIC, a court, a sheriff, or another government office.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

External links may open a Georgia agency, court portal, county sheriff or clerk, legal-aid organization, or third-party search service. Georgia Criminal History does not control an external site's content, availability, data practices, or prices and accepts no responsibility for them. Review the destination's own terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code are owned by Georgia Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent permitted by law, Georgia Criminal History is not liable for damages arising from use of the website, including reliance on information obtained here or from a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold Georgia Criminal History harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or a breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Georgia law governs these terms. Any dispute related to the website must be brought in a court located in Georgia. The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, applies to qualifying government records, while GCIC dissemination is separately governed by O.C.G.A. § 35-3-34.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be revised at any time. A revision becomes effective when the updated text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended or ended at any time, with or without advance notice, when allowed by law.

14. Severability

If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected provision will be narrowed only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
