Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Names, locations, or other terms entered in a search tool are sent directly to the third-party company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Georgia Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email the site, the message may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may automatically receive limited technical details about the visit:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Georgia Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes reference material about records held by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Georgia Crime Information Center, the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Georgia Sex Offender Registry, Georgia courts, and agencies in all 159 counties. Visitor information is not turned into a consumer report or a record about another person, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes shown on the site. Their privacy policies, retention rules, and sharing practices govern data entered into those tools. Georgia Criminal History does not set those practices. Review the provider's terms before submitting information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Georgia agency pages, court systems, county sheriffs and clerks, legal-aid resources, or third-party tools. Once an external link opens, the destination's privacy policy controls that visit. Read it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to follow activity across websites and select targeted ads. That tracking is controlled by those companies.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. It may be disclosed to:
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
- Search providers that process queries submitted to their tools
- Advertising networks that place ads
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information the site receives. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, however, so Georgia Criminal History cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If information from a minor is identified, it will be removed after notice.
Your Data Rights
The Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, governs qualifying records held by Georgia public agencies, not the files of this private site. O.C.G.A. § 35-3-34 separately controls GCIC criminal-history dissemination. Subject to applicable law and the limits of available data, visitors may:
- Opt out of processing when a lawful opt-out applies
- Ask whether the site has personal information about them
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion where the law and retention duties allow it
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal duties change. A revised version will be posted here with its new effective date.
