Why We Built This Site
Public access in Georgia depends on who created and now holds the record. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, through GCIC, compiles reportable criminal-history information. The Georgia Department of Corrections maintains state-prison information, and the Georgia Sex Offender Registry provides the statewide public registry. Original arrest reports, bookings, jail records, and most criminal case files remain with county agencies and court clerks. This site brings those statewide pathways together, while each county site supplies the local contacts, portals, procedures, and fees for that jurisdiction. Use the county directory whenever the record began with a local office.

What We Cannot Do
Georgia Criminal History is a privately operated reference site. It is not connected with a Georgia court, sheriff, police department, GCIC, or any other government body. Those limits matter:
- We cannot issue a certified court document, rap sheet, or other official record
- We cannot submit record-restriction petitions, records requests, or court filings for a visitor
- We cannot retrieve a criminal record or conduct an official background check
- We cannot interpret a specific case or provide legal advice
- We cannot promise that an agency's address, fee, phone number, or procedure has not changed
Only the government custodian, such as GCIC, a Georgia court, or the county office that created a record, can provide its official copy.
Search Partners
Third-party providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Those providers control their own services, results, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee for this site, which helps support free public access to the reference material. Georgia Criminal History does not control the partner's charges or returned information.
